Dublin Tall Ships 2012
2,500 crew arrived in Dublin on the Tall ships and berthed on a 1500m section of the river Liffey. The event organisers wished to comprehensively cover the entire berthing area with reliable WiFi.
Our established connections with broadband suppliers allowed us to arrange contra promotion. The WiFi mesh was supplied with four broadband sources from four different suppliers for added redundancy.
Our team installed one of the largest WiFi networks in Ireland for the 10 days of on-site production. The mesh contained hot spares (WiFi units that are inactive unless another unit fails) and was designed to be self healing to tolerate equipment and broadband failure; as it happened they were not required.
More than 900 clients transferred over 150GB of data across the network during the event. This included separate installations for ships crew, event production and event control.
Bavaria City Racing
An issue with a previous supplier left the event organisers with a situation that 40 hours before the event (scheduled for a bank holiday Sunday) it became clear that there would be no broadband/WiFi available for the international media correspondents attending the event.
At short notice, we supplied and managed a 10/10MB connection for the media area enabling instant uploads after the press conference.
St Patrick’s Festival
For several years, we have supplied mobile broadband connections to the media buses near (and in) the parade.
These connections are unaffected by the large crowds using 3G on their mobile devices and provide the media staff with a fast connection to upload files to newsrooms globally – directly from the parade.
